John, for years, Common Cause members like you have sounded the alarm about Louis DeJoy's destructive plans for the USPS.
You see, we knew from the start that DeJoy – the GOP megadonor installed as Postmaster General as Trump was trying to win re-election – posed a major threat to our right to Vote By Mail.
And that campaign took on new urgency recently as DeJoy announced reckless plans to close mail processing centers, slow mail delivery, and undermine Vote By Mail across the country – all in the middle of an election year!
Our mission was clear: we needed to STOP DeJoy from gutting this vital public service so that voters could safely and reliably cast their votes by mail in this year's elections.
That's why I'm so glad to share that in response to overwhelming public pressure, DeJoy is hitting pause on his plans to slow down mail delivery until after the election! [1]
This is a major win, John, but you know as well as I do that our Postal Service will NEVER be safe as long as Louis DeJoy is in charge of it. And after nearly a full term in office, President Biden still hasn't done all he can to remove DeJoy and protect our Postal Service.
That's why it's long past time for President Biden to act – and ensure that mail in voting remains a secure, reliable option for millions of voters. If you agree, will you add your name today?
John, our action can’t stop with this win, we need to ensure that DeJoy’s destructive 10-year plan to gut the USPS is never implemented.
Right now, President Biden can help by filling vacancies on the USPS Board of Governors who could replace DeJoy and help expand our crucial postal services – NOT cut them for political gain.
Add your name to tell President Biden: We cannot allow our postal service to be sabotaged. It’s time to FIRE Louis DeJoy and protect the USPS.
This win shows that when we speak out for what’s right we can truly make a difference. Our job isn't finished – let's keep pushing forward and save our Postal Service.
Thanks for all you do,
Jay Young, Senior Director of Voting & Democracy
and the team at Common Cause
