Hi Friend,

We are thrilled to announce that California’s justCARE: Campus Action for Reproductive Equity team has joined URGE: Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity! Founded in 2017, justCARE led the effort to pass California’s Senate Bill 24 (SB 24), bold legislation expanding access to abortion — signed into law in October 2019 — requiring all public universities in California to provide the abortion pill on campus

As the justCARE team transitions to URGE California (URGE CA), we would like to thank justCARE’s campaign partners who were instrumental to the success of SB 24:

  • ACCESS Women's Health Justice
  • ACT for Women and Girls
  • ACLU of Northern California
  • NARAL Pro-Choice California
  • California Latinas for Reproductive Justice
  • Students United for Reproductive Justice at UC Berkeley
  • Women's Foundation of California / Women's Policy Institute

We look forward to continuing to work alongside these incredible folks as URGE CA!

Although justCARE will now be part of URGE, we recognize that the work is far from over. As URGE prepares to launch our sixth annual, all-digital Abortion Positive Tour on April 13, we are proud to announce that we are bringing the justCARE campaign to URGE and extending its mission to make on-campus abortion pill access a reality for more young people in states across the country.

We are honored to continue our shared legacy of organizing led by radical young people and guided by a reproductive justice framework to liberate and uplift young people of color, women, and LGBTQIA+ folks in the South, Midwest, and — now — California.

Now, please join us in welcoming our URGE CA staff: Dey, Sonja, Kavleen, Jessy, and Carly!
