Hi John.

I understand Kansas families are struggling with higher grocery prices. So today, I wanted to share an update on what I’m doing to lower your costs.

I’m honored to serve you on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee. One of my major focuses is securing our agricultural supply chains to help get costs down.

A stronger supply chain helps our agricultural producers grow their crops more efficiently, deliver their goods less expensively, and protect against costly disasters. That ultimately can help lower prices for families at the grocery store.

I recently questioned the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, on these important issues in the Agriculture Committee. Please click here to see our exchange.

I’m working to pass a long-term, bipartisan Farm Bill. This is a major piece of legislation that Congress passes about every five years.

The Farm Bill is crucial for a strong agricultural supply chain that supports Kansas farmers and ranchers. For example, Edgerton’s Finley Farms recently planted corn and soybeans

They depend on Agriculture Department programs like the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). This initiative helps stop soil erosion and improves water quality so they can produce more healthy crops.

Finely Farms is a multigenerational family-operated agribusiness in Edgerton. I was so pleased to meet with them earlier this year and learn about how the Farm Bill and the agricultural supply chain impacts them.

There’s certainly a lot more work that needs to be done to lower grocery prices and make life more affordable. That includes ensuring more competition and stopping price gouging. I’m also focused on lowering other everyday costs, including by voting to let Medicare cap insulin prices at $35 a month and negotiate for lower prescription drug prices.

As this important work continues, please visit davids.house.gov/lowercosts to find resources to help you and your family. You may be able to find help for groceries or cheaper local gas stations, help for health care, housing, and more.

It’s an honor to serve you and your family. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

My warmest regards,
