John,
Justice Democrats incumbents Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman are both facing primary challenges this summer, and their opponents have one key thing in common: their campaigns are being bankrolled by Republican megadonors.
Conservative career politician George Latimer is trying to unseat Jamaal in New York’s 16th district, while prosecutor Wesley Bell challenges Cori in Missouri’s 1st district. They’ve both taken money from AIPAC and its dark money network, mostly fueled by the same GOP millionaires and billionaires supporting Donald Trump and other Republican candidates.
As Cori pointed out on Twitter, these so-called Democrats are being used as a trojan horse to let far-right extremists influence our Democratic primaries in hopes of removing two of the most progressive leaders in Congress.
Your donors reflect your values. While Latimer and Bell take money from anti-abortion and pro-insurrectionist Republicans, Cori and Jamaal’s campaigns are powered by regular, everyday people like you — and that’s exactly who they fight for in Washington.
In solidarity,
Geoff Simpson
