Friends,

We’re continuing to protect our environment and combat global warming in the midst of the global pandemic. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit recently granted us our 27th legal victory against Donald Trump. Once again, President Trump’s EPA violated the law in order to undermine its very purpose. This time they tried to unlawfully roll back restrictions on a dangerous greenhouse gas.

We stopped them.

The federal court ruled that the Trump administration acted illegally when it rescinded a 2016 EPA regulation banning the use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), and reinstated the Obama-era prohibition. HFCs are a dangerous greenhouse gas that can have a devastating impact on climate change. Their global warming potential is 300 to 1,000 times greater than that of carbon dioxide.

Nearly half of our legal victories against President Trump involve environmental protections. The Trump administration has continually tried to undermine the EPA, illegally rolling back regulations that protect our environment from corporate pollution and combat the climate crisis. The global pandemic hasn’t stopped Trump from continuing his assault on our environmental protections -- nor will it keep us from doing our job to protect our environment.

These unlawful actions harm Washington -- and we are proving that in court. We are winning in front of judges appointed by presidents of both parties. 17 of our legal victories are final and cannot be appealed.

My Republican opponents are running on a platform of dropping these lawsuits and ending our initiative to protect Washingtonians from President Trump’s unlawful actions. That puts us at risk.

I won’t back down from protecting Washingtonians, no matter where the threats to our rights and our environment are coming from.

- Bob
