News from Representative Larson

Dear Friends,

Millions of Americans travel through Bradley International Airport each year. That’s why I support efforts in Congress to improve the customer experience and modernize our airport so you can navigate the travel experience with ease and arrive at your destinations safely.

This week, I voted for bipartisan legislation that is on its way to President Biden’s desk to expand consumer protections for travelers. This legislation will:

  • Require automatic refunds for passengers facing excessive delays
  • Ensure around-the-clock access to airline customer service agents
  • Prohibit airlines from charging families more to sit with their kids

I am proud that we secured new funding I advocated for to end the use of harmful PFAS-containing firefighting foam at airports, something our region knows all too well after the 2019 Farmington River spill, and authorized the highest-ever level of funding for grants that are currently supporting improvements to Bradley Airport – including a more efficient check-in process, increased ticket counter space, and better baggage screening.

If you are planning an international trip ahead of the busy summer travel season, you should ensure your passport is up to date. To learn more about how to apply for a new passport or renew your passport, visit travel.state.gov. If you are facing unexpected delays, have a travel emergency, or need help communicating with the Passport Agency, please call my office at 860-278-8888.

When traveling abroad, be sure to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to stay up to date with information about your destination and ensure the nearest U.S. Embassy can contact you in the event of an emergency.
