John,
Once again, a Supreme Court Justice (Alito) has been confronted with evidence of his support for the January 6 insurrection, in the form of an upside-down flag flying outside of his home. And just like Clarence Thomas distancing himself from his wife's actions to overturn the results of our election, Justice Alito is now singing a similar tune: blaming it all on his wife. Yes - you read that correctly. The wheels on the bus go over the wife. 🚌 We are not fooled.
The U.S. Flag Code states that the American flag is not to be flown upside down “except as a signal of dire distress in instance of extreme danger to life or property.” Perhaps this symbol could better be applied to the dire state our nation's judicial system.
This Wednesday's Feminist Night School session, we're talking about the State of Justice. We'll be joined by court accountability experts who will help us understand the situation we're in and learn what we can and must do about it.
RSVP FOR "THE STATE OF JUSTICE"
Two years after Roe v Wade was overturned, it’s clear our courts are in a state of crisis. Judges are blatantly disregarding the law, science, and the limits of their own authority to dismantle our freedoms and roll back progress on human rights. Once-respected institutions have become kangaroo courts presided over by politicians in robes.
We can't sit on our hands as the third branch of our government is overtaken by extremist ideologues. Join us to take a hard look, and prepare to take action.
In solidarity,
Senior Director of Programs
