Applications are now open for the American Climate Corps (ACC)!
The ACC, announced last fall by President Biden, is a Green New Deal program that will recruit + train folks across the country. By working in partnership with the Green New Deal movement and local communities to build out the ACC in accordance with communities’ wants and needs, the Biden administration can put cities and towns on the path to a brighter future, show Americans that their government is working for them, and strengthen faith in government.

Did you hear? Last fall, President Biden announced the creation of the American Climate Corps (ACC), and it is finally here.
The creation of this explicit Green New Deal program is a really big deal. The corps gives us an opportunity to create new positions in local communities across 30+ states to address the climate crisis. This government jobs training program will work to tackle the escalating and local impacts of the climate crisis, and it gives us a good shot at providing much-needed employment opportunities to young people.
Training programs, like the ACC, have been historically successful. A century ago, the Civilian Conservation Corps employed 3 million men in the midst of the Great Depression and offered access to basic needs including income, food, and shelter, while being responsible for half the nation’s reforestation efforts and building trails and bridges in 900 national parks.
By putting young people to work tackling the climate crisis at home, the ACC could produce tangible and near-immediate economic and social benefits for young people, our families, and our communities.
This is a great first step by the Biden administration. With the ACC, we can set cities and towns on the path to a brighter future, show Americans that their government is working for them, and strengthen faith in government.
Together,
Green New Deal Network
