Angus King

John: When folks visit my office, often the first thing they comment on is how welcoming and cozy a space it is.

I’ve decorated just about every wall in my office with art from Maine artists. Most days, you’ll see one of my team member’s dogs lounging around, and Maine people who are in town are welcome to drop their coats off in the lobby (or “the living room” as we call it) while they go about their business in the Capitol. One visitor described it aptly when she said it feels so homey and beachy that she feels like she should slip her flip flops off when she comes in so she doesn’t get sand everywhere.

That feels right. That feels like Maine. In short, my office is a sort of home away from home for any people who are in D.C., for friends, and visitors alike. A place to stop in for a slice of my office’s famous blueberry bread, a cup of Maine-roasted coffee, or just good old-fashioned conversation.

John: Our country is more divided than ever. Partisan bickering and extremism have become the new normal. It’s important to me that my office provides a safe space and a listening ear to anyone who comes through the doors.

I sincerely hope to keep bringing that mindset to the Senate for another term. But John, I am up for re-election in November, and I need the support of grassroots donors like you if I’m going to win. Since I don’t receive monetary support from national parties as an Independent, I’m proud and honored to depend on small-dollar donors like you instead. Can you donate just $5 or $10 or whatever you can today?

If you’re ever passing through D.C., I hope you’ll stop by and say hello! We’d love to welcome you to our little island of Maine calm, transported just 630 miles south of the real deal.

Warmly,
Angus

There is nothing more important to Senator King than doing right by the people of Maine. This means fighting on their behalf for the issues that matter most, whether that’s health care, national security, veterans, education, economic certainty, the environment or job creation. Throughout his decades of public service, he has worked tirelessly to build relationships and improve opportunities for all Maine people, from Kittery to Fort Kent.
