Matzah Ball the Passover Opossum

This week, I saved a baby opossum. She didn't quite come to me in a basket floating down the Nile, but close enough for this Passover. I called the Missouri Wildlife Rescue Center ([link removed]) well after hours and left a message. They got back to me within an hour, and Michelle was ready to accept her newest furry friend in the morning. I just had to keep the baby warm overnight.

Thanks to my friends all over Missouri who have raised their own orphaned tick-eating machines, Matzah Ball made it through the night and into the arms of her very excited new human.

The day of Matzah Ball's drop-off, I had to go live to do our Missouri Furriest Friend of the Quarter Competition announcement show ([link removed]) . When Matzah Ball's name wasn't called as a competitor, the protesters came out on Twitter. She even got herself a hashtag. (Matzah Ball is not eligible for LAST QUARTER'S competition, people!)

And so the competition went on ([link removed]) . The votes started coming in. One dog even got himself a song ([link removed]) .

Matzah Ball inadvertently highlighted something that our statewide leaders in Missouri are not - the importance we all place on voting. As of this moment, it's not easy for Missourians to figure out how to vote safely. Our Secretary of State has given virtually no guidance. Our Governor flat-out said everything is fine and we don't need a mail-in voting system. Our Attorney General is, like usual, quiet.

We have not been.

Thanks to the amazing diligence of volunteers, we are proud to debut Vote Missouri ([link removed]) , a website that helps Missourians register to vote and navigate the too-complicated system to request absentee ballots. Over 30 counties have verified with us that they can accept absentee ballots by email with more coming. I'll be announcing all of this tomorrow through an online press conference.

We need leaders who will protect our right to vote. We cannot afford the same reactive behavior that got us here. It's time for real, smart, down-to-earth leadership that gets it and that never stops working for us.

That's the leadership we can have in Missouri with this campaign.

I am so proud of the work we're doing, of the volunteers we are organizing to make our state better already, and of what this election will mean for our state when we win.

Come be a part of it too.

We're sending texts, making calls, checking in on Missourians, helping nonprofit efforts, protecting our right to vote, and doing so much more for our state. If you can volunteer even a little time, please email Daniel at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) .
News
* On April 22, I will be arguing in the Western District Court of Appeals in the case Elad Gross v. Governor Michael Parson, et al. This case - which stemmed from my investigation into dark money corruption in our government - will have major implications on Missouri's Sunshine Law and transparency in our government. More news on this soon!

* On Saturday, April 11, we'll have Emily Weber - candidate for Missouri House District 24 in the Kansas City area - on the #EladPod! You can tune in on our Facebook ([link removed]) page, Twitter ([link removed]) , and on YouTube ([link removed]) live at 1 PM.

* The #EladPod is now a real podcast! We're listed by Apple, Spotify, Stitcher, and at EladPod.org ([link removed]) .
