Learn more about what my office has been up to this week Dear john, This week, I was proud to join colleagues in introducing new legislation to keep pregnant women and new mothers healthy and safe. The Mental Health and Making Access More Affordable (MAMA) Act will alleviate financial barriers to mental health care and substance use disorder services. Right now, one in five women in the U.S. suffer from a mental health disorder in the months before or after giving birth, and the majority never receive the care they need. We must do more to support mental health access for mothers. To learn more, read this press release from my office. My work to lower the cost of insulin continues. Over the past year, I have been pleased to hear the stories from our seniors who have benefitted from my bill to lower the cost of insulin to $35 a month, and I believe we can do much more. I spoke this week to Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra to commend him for his work in the Biden-Harris Administration and to rededicate ourselves to continue lowering costs for all American families. This historic federal investment is creating good-paying jobs, protecting clean drinking water, and making our roads and bridges safer. In Georgia alone, the BIL has driven nearly $10 billion in federal investments, including: $6,600,000,000 to invest in roads, bridges, public transit, ports, and airports $1,300,000,000 to connect Georgians to reliable high-speed internet access $359,000,000 for clean water and water infrastructure Thank you for taking the time to read this update. It is my honor to serve our community in Congress. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with my office.
