Runoff Election attacks
If you're having trouble viewing this email, you can see it online.

Every. Single. Time.

It's (still) election season, and that of course means the lies are running rampant.  Remember, it is considered legal to lie in a campaign.  A candidate can say whatever s/he wants about the opponent... and they do.

Last week my own brother brought me two flyers he received in the mail.  They were for two opposing candidates... and they both said the exact same thing.  "I'm the true conservative."  He didn't know who to believe, and he wanted to know how to discover the truth.  I told him to always look at a candidate's record.

In this case, the incumbent has a horrible voting record, and that's discovered by going to the TLO website (requires training) or checking the Fiscal Responsibility Index (super easy).

The challenger, on the other hand, had never held office and had no voting record, but she does have a long history of grassroots activism and a slew of endorsements from right-leaning organizations.

He still had questions.  "But how would the average voter figure this out???"  I told him the easiest way is to find people they trust... like True Texas Project.

Being a voter is a responsibility, and it takes effort, but there is nothing like the feeling I get when I cast my ballot and have thoroughly vetted every name I give a nod to.

True Texas Project will do all we can to help you out, and that's why we did a special edition of our podcast, TTP@Home, this week.  We interviewed 5 of our endorsed candidates who are in the middle of some nasty battles.  The lies being said about them are just unbelievable!  Or maybe "unbelievable" is a poor choice of words because, sadly, those hit pieces often work.  We asked them point blank to refute the lies and expose the ones who are telling them.  And boy, did they!

You may not be able to vote for any of the 5 candidates we interviewed.  (They are all in North Central Texas).  But you can watch the conversations and see how these things work.  These same tactics are repeated all across the state every election cycle. This way you'll recognize the tactics when they are used in your own local races.  Plus, you can share this conversation with those you know who DO live in the candidates' areas.

You can watch the podcast on Rumble, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube (linked here):

We interviewed the following candidates, and I'm including the time stamp so you can find each of them easily:

  • 00:00:50 - Jace Yarbrough for State Senate D30
  • 00:12:58 - John O'Shea for Congressional District 12
  • 00:25:39 - Andy Hopper for State House D64
  • 00:42:46 - Cheryl Bean for State House D97
  • 00:53:56 - David Lowe for State House D91

Remember, early voting is May 20-24, and Election Day is May 28.

For the love of Texas,
Julie McCarty, CEO
