Happy Bike to Wherever Day! Yesterday, Mayor Breed joined San
Franciscans celebrating the strides we have made to increase safe,
sustainable transportation in San Francisco.
Our team is so proud of the work Mayor Breed has done to
build a reliable, consistent public transportation network, walkable
neighborhoods, and roads designed to protect walkers and
bikers.
Since she took office, we have more
than doubled the miles of protected bike lanes, ensuring safer streets
for everyone. Our "Quick Build" program has transformed our streets,
cutting through red tape to deliver rapid improvements citywide,
enhancing over 20 miles of protected bike lanes and speeding up our
bus lines. Our Slow Streets program has succeeded in creating safer
space for pedestrians, children, seniors, and families to get outside
and have fun.
We have so much to celebrate, but
our work is far from finished. We must continue to make investments in
street safety and accessibility so we can continue to grow as a
world-class city for bikers and pedestrians.
The city is gearing up to add more
lanes, secure bike parking, and introduce even more innovative safety
measures – but we need your commitment to make our dreams of truly
sustainable transportation a reality.
In honor of Bike to Wherever Day, our team is committed to
bike to work (and for fun!) as often as possible this summer.
If
you’re with us, will you take the pledge to bike
even
more this summer?
Your involvement in sustainable
transportation efforts is crucial.
Together, we can ensure that San
Francisco remains a leader in urban sustainability and safety. Thank
you for joining us on this ride!
Ride on,
Team London Breed
