Here are some of the amazing things our alumni have done recently:
- Arizona State Senator Anna Hernandez (New American Leaders’ Fellow 2022) and State Representative Analise Ortiz (Ready to Lead® Southwest & Ready to Win® 2021) championed HB2720, a bill that requires all cities over 75,000 people to allow Accessory Dwelling Units on properties where a single-family home is zoned. This is meant to alleviate the affordable housing crisis in the state.
- Colorado State Representatives Tim Hernández (New American Leaders’ Fellow 2021) and Elizabeth Velasco’s (National Women’s Training 2022) sponsored SB24-182, a bill which would would amend the Colorado Road and Community Safety Act, making it easier for new immigrants to obtain a driver's license or state identification card for residents who do not have legal resident status in the United States, passed in the House.
- Ann Arbor City Councilmember Ayesha Ghazi Edwin (Ready to Lead® Michigan 2015) has accepted a full-time position as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work!
- Michigan State Senator Darrin Camilleri (Ready to Lead® Trainer) one of NextGen America’s 2024 Gen10 Leaders from across the United States working to create generational change.
- Susan Shin Andersen (Ready to Lead® Northeast 2024) won her election for Councilor-At-Large in Montclair, New Jersey!
- Shivani Parikh (Ready to Lead® AAPI Women 2024) founded and launched the South Asian Legal Defense Fund to adequately meet the legal needs of her community.
