My name is Alissa Keny-Guyer and I’m a former Oregon State Legislator. I had planned on staying out of the primary for Oregon’s 5th congressional district, but with the dark money pouring in to attack my friend, Jamie McLeod-Skinner, I need to speak up.
Having worked with both Jamie and her opponent, I know Jamie is the best choice for Congress. Jamie is stronger on the environment, affordable housing, healthcare, public education, reproductive rights, working family concerns, and many other issues.

Jamie also has a far greater understanding of foreign policy, having lived in Africa and worked in Bosnia and Kosovo to help them rebuild after war. This experience is especially important now, as the US faces tough choices in Ukraine, Sudan, and the Middle East. I trust Jamie to push for policies that protect civilians and bring peace to those regions.
Jamie’s integrity stands out. I applaud her for NEVER having accepted corporate PAC contributions, something very few politicians can claim. She’s extraordinary in her ability to bring people together in a positive and productive way. She bridges the rural-urban divide and navigates politics that lets us work with Republicans and Independents without compromising our values.
The false attacks against Jamie have been hard to watch, and I’m so grateful that she has continued to fight for us. We couldn’t ask for anyone better to advocate for us in Congress. We can trust Jamie and count on her.
We learned in 2022 just how tough OR-5 is for a Democrat to win: our Democratic Governor only received 42% in the district! Jamie earned 49% of the vote and fell short by just a couple thousand votes, in one of the closest races in the country. She’s found those votes! While both Jamie and her primary opponent have beaten Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer the Portland Metro area, that’s not the majority of the OR-5 voters and not where the race will be won.
Democrats need to win this seat, and Jamie is the only one who can do it. She’s built on her strong base throughout the district, adapted her team and strategy, and is well prepared to win in November.
Please vote for Jamie McLeod-Skinner for OR-5! And don’t forget to return your ballot by 8pm on Tuesday, May 21.
Onward,
Alissa
