AIPAC PAC's director gives an update on our results so far this cycle
Dear A.,
Hezbollah dramatically escalated its attacks on Israeli communities today, firing a barrage of 75 rockets from Lebanon into northern Israel.
Air raid sirens blared in Israeli towns throughout the morning, and the IDF's aerial defense systems were activated to intercept dozens of rockets heading for populated areas.
Israeli jets struck back against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, and eliminated a senior terrorist commander who cooperated closely with Hamas. Shurahbil Ali Alsayed, a top commander of the Jamaa Islamiya terrorist organization, promoted numerous attacks from Lebanon against Israel recently.
While the IDF defends against daily Hezbollah terror attacks in the north, the military is engaged in intense fighting across Gaza, continuing its operations to root out Hamas and free the hostages.
In an overnight operation, Israeli troops recovered the bodies of Shani Louk (23), Amit Buskila (28) and Yitzhak Gelernter (53), who were kidnapped and murdered by Hamas terrorists on October 7 from the Nova Music Festival.
IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari said that the three Israelis were killed after they fled the festival and were captured by Hamas. The terrorists kidnapped their bodies to Gaza.
“The intense fighting in all parts of the Strip continues, and the task of utmost importance of returning the hostages is [on the mind] of every commander and fighter in the field,” Hagari said.
🎥 AIPAC THIS WEEK: Another key victory for pro-Israel candidates, critical work ahead
For the second straight week, AIPAC members and the AIPAC-backed super PAC United Democracy Project helped ensure a pro-Israel candidate won a key primary election. AIPAC PAC Director Marilyn Rosenthal gives an update on these important victories, our results so far this cycle, and the critical work that lies ahead.
In an interview with CNN, the nation's top urban warfare expert John Spencer details why he believes pressure on Israel from the international community and the Biden administration's delayed arms transfer to Israel are dragging out this war and prolonging the IDF's defeat of Hamas.
"The world said to Israel at the beginning of the ground invasion, that what you’re doing, I don’t care if it’s legal or not, cannot continue. You got to find another way. The United States with its influence said, look, I know what you’re doing is achieving results, but you have to find a different way.
So the IDF shifted their tactics, they reduced the number of forces, they reduced the number of strikes on military targets, and they went more methodically and slowed down. They did more tactical pauses, they avoided more areas if they had any civilian population in them, and it became a very house-to-house, block-by-block, tunnel-by-tunnel fight, which has prolonged the war.
That has increased the humanitarian suffering and the strain on humanitarian supplies in Gaza. It has increased the duration of the violence and the continued existence of Hamas. So we are at fault for some of the destruction in Gaza because of that. We own some of the responsibility."
The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
