Legislative Update

We're back on the house floor every day this weekend as the majority struggles to push all of the pieces of their extreme agenda through the process at the 11th hour. We need to be prioritizing policy that does the best for Minnesotans instead of expanding the bureaucratic expanse of state government.

This clip from our debate on SF 3567 is just one example of how the priorities in Saint Paul have become so misaligned that this bill focuses more on distractions than the disheartening fact that half of our students can't read at grade level.

Mandates are not just hurting our schools; they're also crushing our businesses. I've talked to many small business owners in the area, and I've heard over and over that the paid family medical leave mandate will force many to close. In this clip from the House floor I shared a letter from one constituent whose business is already hurting under the mandates and tax increases being imposed on them.

Congratulations to the Southland Boys Golf Team on becoming Conference Champions! Your dedication, skill, and teamwork have led you to this outstanding achievement. Your hard work and commitment have not only brought pride to your team but have also inspired our entire community. Here's to your remarkable success and to many more triumphs in the future!



Some more great accomplishment from Southland include Senior band and choir awards. Congratulations Cody, Diann, Myiah, Jessie, and Julia. Keep up the great work and continue your passion for the arts.

In the District

I'm going to miss all the fun events this weekend but that doesn't mean you have to!

To kick off the weekend is the Taste of Nations 2024 event, hosted by the Parenting Resource Center, Inc. and the Welcome Center of Austin. For over a decade, this event has been dedicated to honoring the diverse cultures that contribute to Mower County. You can immerse yourself in a vibrant tapestry of traditions, cuisines, and performances. From global flavors to captivating music, the Taste of Nations fosters unity and appreciation for our multicultural community.

Over at the Mower County Fairgrounds [ [link removed] ] are two great events; The Historical Society Plant Sale and the Spring into Summer Craft and Vendor Show. Both of these should be a great time and a fun opportunity to see some neighbors and hopefully enjoy some great weather.

Next week on Monday and Tuesday we have two great Ambulance events going on. On Monday Gand Meadow Area Ambulance Services [ [link removed] ] is hosting a community supper with hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, chips, and ice cream! Free Will donations go towards keeping equipment up to date.

Then on Tuesday the Blooming Prairie Ambulance [ [link removed] ] is hosting an open house. Stop by to meet your local emergency medical services team, have some great food, and maybe even win some door prizes!
