"Even in the darkest depths of horror, there is life, there is hope, and there is love"
This week, we welcomed Heather Morris, the author of The Tattooist of Auschwitz, to the Laura Bush Book Club event at Engage at the Bush Center, presented by NexPoint and supported by H-E-B. Now also a television series on Peacock, The Tattooist of Auschwitz describes how Lale and Gita found love even as they fought to survive one of humankind's darkest periods.
Mrs. Bush began the program by sharing her own childhood memories of her father, who served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was among the liberators of the Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp.
