DEVELOPING… in a vote of 216-195, House Republicans just pushed through a MASSIVE giveaway of public lands to Big Polluters. Under their bill, virtually anyone, for a small fee, could claim rights to public lands. That means mining companies could pay a small fee to gain absolute rights to occupy and dump waste on public lands in perpetuity.
LCV needs to ramp up the pressure on members of Congress if we’re going to prevent this disastrous bill from moving forward.
The only way to do that is to mobilize — and fast. But we need your help to make it happen.
We’re asking for the help of every LCV member to block this bill. That means you, Friend. Renew your LCV membership right away to help fund our campaign — every contribution matters, so even $5 makes a big difference.
Here’s what you need to know: If MAGA Republicans get their way, mining companies would have even more unfettered access to our public lands and be able to dump toxic mine waste on those lands. In the worst hands, anyone would be able to lock up public lands, and even prevent clean energy development on public lands, under the false pretenses of mining.
This bill would tip the scales away from our communities, our environment, and our clean energy future — giving the mining industry even more power to dictate how we use our public lands.
We’re not willing to sit by and let that happen — and we know you won’t either. To keep our work going strong, we need to raise $45,000 before the end of the month. If everyone reading this right now were to pitch in just $5, we’d blow through that goal in minutes.
Here’s where things stand:
Please, Friend — the best thing you can do right now to help block this disastrous bill is renew your LCV membership to power our campaign. Right now, it only costs $5 >>
Thank you for standing up to Big Polluters and protecting our public lands!
