This week, I took a moment to recognize National Bike Month and share some of the work I have done to promote expanded bike use in Chicago and across the country. Whether in Chicago or in Washington, my bike is my preferred way to get where I need to go. I have been proud to support a variety of efforts to make biking more accessible and safer for all Americans, including through my support for the E-Bike Act. This bill would create a consumer tax credit for the purchase of electric bicycles. Back home in Chicago, I recently secured $480,000 in funding to allow the Village of Arlington Heights to build a safe and accessible path connecting the Palatine Trail with the Prospect Heights Trail for people to walk and bike on. All of these national and local efforts are necessary to reduce our carbon footprint and encourage people to enjoy some time outside.
