FEDERAL DISASTER RELIEF HEADED TO MINDEN AND OTHER IOWA COMMUNITIES IMPACTED BY LAST MONTH'S DEVASTATING TORNADOES
Following last month’s devastating tornadoes, I joined Governor Reynolds in calling for immediate relief for Minden and other impacted communities.
I’m glad that President Biden answered our call and approved federal support to help our families and communities rebuild.
I will continue to stand with our neighbors in Minden and our communities in Southwest Iowa as they recover.

WORKING TO BALANCE OUR FEDERAL BUDGET
According to calculations by the Joint Economic Committee of U.S. Treasury Department data, the federal government is borrowing about $100,000 every single second.
Serving on the House Ways and Means Committee, I’ll continue my work to protect Iowa taxpayers, end reckless government spending, reduce our national debt, and put our country on a path towards fiscal sanity.

RECOGNIZING NATIONAL HOSPITAL WEEK
This week, I recognized our incredible hospitals in Iowa and thanked the doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, and administrators who keep our hospitals running.
Their work is critical to keeping our families and communities safe and healthy.
On my 36 County Tour, I’ve met with healthcare workers and families about the importance of keeping hospitals open and operational in our rural communities.
That’s why I introduced the Rural Hospital Stabilization Act — which just passed out of the House Ways and Means Committee — to help our hospitals meet payroll, retain quality staff, make needed improvements, and deliver exceptional care.

IMPROVING THE LIVESTOCK INDEMNITY PROGRAM TO DELIVER FAIR AND ACCURATE PRICES FOR IOWA CATTLE PRODUCERS
When severe storms strike or animal disease spreads, Iowa cattle producers need a safety net that they can depend on and deserve a fair price for their livestock. However, under current law, payment rates from the Livestock Indemnity Program are only updated every year – a lengthy timeframe that does not accurately reflect unpredictable market conditions in the livestock industry.
My bill – the Livestock Indemnity Program Improvement Act – will cut that timeframe down to every three months so that our producers and their families receive a fair and accurate price for their livestock.

INFLATION KEEPS INCREASING
Thanks to President Biden's reckless spending, American families are paying more to keep up with rising prices at the gas station and the grocery store.
We need to stop spending money that we don't have to bring prices and interest rates down.

MY WEEKLY COLUMN: SUPPORTING OUR POLICE, LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND BORDER PATROL AGENTS
Our police and law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our families and communities safe. These men and women are heroes who deserve our deepest appreciation and strongest support for their commitment to protect and serve Iowans.
On my 36 County Tour, I’ve had the privilege of meeting with our law enforcement community to personally thank them for all that they do – never seeking recognition or praise in return. They know the meaning of service and sacrifice.
During my time in Congress, I’ve pledged to back the blue 100%, and I’m glad to say that I’ve introduced and supported legislation upholding that promise.
