Washington, D.C. - On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of meeting with North Texans from the American Society of Anesthesiologists. We discussed their initiatives to ensure veterans receive high quality care and Medicare payment reforms.

Afterwards, I was honored to meet with Officer Medlin’s family while they were in D.C. for the Police Officers Memorial. Officer Medlin served the people of North Texas honorably for years and will be remembered for his dedication to protecting our community.

Wednesday began with our Ways and Means Committee markup over foreign funding influencing U.S. elections and policies, and our Small Business Committee hearing over the Small Business Administration's weakening of lending standards in the 7(a) program.

During our markup, we advanced legislation that I helped introduce, the Taxpayer Data Protection Act. You can read more about it in my Work of the Week section!

After, I met with representatives from the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. I was happy to sign on to the Access to Prescription Digital Therapeutics Act and the Medicaid VBPs for Patients Act which expand coverage and get life-saving treatments to the most vulnerable patients.

I was glad to vote for the Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act later that day to back our law enforcement against criminal illegal aliens before dropping in to say hello to some folks from Novocure, including TX-24 resident, Stephanie Tedder.

I’ve been working on a provision in the FAA reauthorization bill to ensure life saving organs are reaching the patients that need them, which I’m excited to say passed and was sent to President Biden's desk for his signature.

I also had a great meeting with other North Texans from the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association. We discussed their petition to review and add PWS as a recognized topic area to the DOD’s Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program.

After, I voted for the Israel Security Assistance Support Act which forces Biden to quickly deliver Congressionally approved defense articles and services to Israel and condemns his dangerous decision to pause arms to our ally. I was happy to co-sponsor this legislation after I introduced my Immediate Support for Israel Act last week.

This morning, I met with a group of students visiting from the University of Texas at Dallas. It was great to see more North Texans!

SAVE THE DATE!

Texas-24 Work of the Week

This week, I helped introduce legislation to increase the maximum penalties for bad actors who unlawfully leak sensitive taxpayer data. This bill will not only be a deterrent to those who wish to do so but also help restore the integrity of the American tax system.

Texas-24 Hometown Hero

Our Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Officer Darren Medlin from the Grapevine Police Department. Officer Medlin devoted himself to serving North Texans before his end of watch came in 2004 after being hit by a drunk driver. His devotion to protecting our community will never be forgotten.
