John, I released my first-ever financial disclosure form as a member of Congress a few months ago. And get this: Republicans are attacking me on social media for… trying to make ends meet during my campaign.
They can attack me all they want, but I have no shame.
The truth is, our political system makes it really difficult for regular people like us to run for office. And I think Congress would work a lot better if more working class folks were able to run for office.
But Republicans are pushing the idea that, because I don’t come from money, I shouldn’t have a seat in Congress. I’m going to keep fighting for those who are often ignored by these out of touch politicians, but I can’t win without your support, John.

John, I drove for Uber while I first ran for office. I had bills to pay and no income, so that was my option, and I took it – like millions of people do every day.
And I have no doubt that tons of those working class people skip running for office because they can’t afford to step away from their job (or jobs, plural).
Instead of demonizing people for their struggles, we should be lifting the working poor up. We need and deserve representation that looks more like us and has struggled like us, John! And at an even more basic level, everyone deserves to be able to put food on the table and gas in the car – whether they drive it to a campaign event or just to work and school.
[link removed] hate asking for campaign contributions, but it’s the only way working people like myself can break into the system and fight for real solutions to the problems that so many Americans face. My campaign needs to raise $5,415 by midnight to stay on track of my weekly fundraising goal. Can you chip in $27 to keep me fighting for all of us in Congress? >>
