We need to talk about Senator Cornyn, y'all. I just don’t think he understands what Texans are going through right now.

He downplayed the threat of COVID-19, and his legislative response has been lackluster at best. At a time when people are losing their jobs and their health care, he’s still in favor of gutting the Affordable Care Act. And now he doesn’t even want to give Texans the option of voting by mail -- in his own words, if people “can go to the grocery store, they can go to the polls.”

I think Sen. Cornyn’s been in Washington too long. He clearly doesn’t get it. Will you help me send him home in November?

Look, I would be thrilled if Sen. Cornyn were doing an amazing job responding to COVID-19. Even though he’s my opponent, Texans deserve to have their senator look out for them. But that’s not what’s happening, and it’s unacceptable.

Maybe it’s because he’s been on government-provided health care for his entire career, but he doesn’t seem to understand what it means to lose your job and suddenly be uninsured. And he sure isn’t acting like he understands what it’s like to have to choose between paying the bills and taking care of a sick kid or to put your health and safety at risk just to carry out your civic duty. I’m a working mom and a combat veteran, so I get it -- and I’m asking for your support.

Team, if there’s anything this crisis has shown us, it’s that who we send to Washington matters. We need the right person in office who can lead in the good times and the tough times. And Sen. Cornyn just ain’t it.

Let’s send him back to Texas this November. Are you in?
