Friend,
On Monday I was unanimously nominated for another term in Congress. Serving our community has been the honor of a lifetime, and I’m grateful for the trust that you have placed in me over the years. Together, I’m confident we can win in November and continue delivering progress for Fairfield County.

As I told the delegates earlier this week, our country faces a stark choice this year. The track record of the two parties could not be more different. Democrats, on the one hand, recently enacted the biggest investment in American infrastructure since the Eisenhower Administration. We stood up to Big Pharma, capping the cost of insulin and empowering Medicare to negotiate drug prices. We passed the Inflation Reduction Act, the largest investment in reducing climate pollution in American history.
Republicans, on the other hand, used their power to restrict access to abortion and vilify those who come from different countries, worship a different god, or love somebody of the same sex. When Republicans held the White House, their sole accomplishment (if you can call it that) was enacting tax cuts that grew the national deficit and channeled even more wealth into the pockets of the richest 1% of Americans.
There is so much work that lies ahead, and I know some of you may be tired. Standing up against hate and anger brings inevitable fatigue to each of us. But former Speaker Pelosi reminds us often of Thomas Paine’s immortal words; the times have found us. Every once and a while a generation of Americans is called upon to meet a higher moment. The Second World War called upon Americans to fight Naziism. The Cold War required Americans to defeat communism. The Civil Rights era saw Americans risk their lives to advance the founding values of this country.
We are now in the fight for the future of democracy, and the times have found us. Together, we will stand up for compassion and common sense. Over the next few months, I know we will lift each other up in order to deliver victories for Democrats up and down the ballot. Monday’s convention reminded me of the heart and determination that every member of this team brings to the table as we fight against Trumpism. I know that we will win because we’re in this together. Thank you.
— Jim
