Friend, show your support for the men and women who keep our country safe
Hi Friend,
It’s National Police Week, and we want to celebrate and support the American men and women who risk lives to keep our streets and cities safe. Violence against law enforcement has reached a concerning and all-time high. The number of officers shot since 2018 has increased by 60%, thousands have been stabbed and punched, and police murders due to ambushed assaults have more than doubled.
Working in law enforcement is a dangerous career, and as a result, most departments are experiencing staffing shortages and recruitment challenges.
Some leaders have vocalized a lack of support for police, setting the tone for citizens to follow suit. With a lack of support, concern for well-being, and safety, the mental health crisis in law enforcement has become an additional concern as suicide rates have increased since 2016.
So it is as important as ever that we show our support for law enforcement. As officers have taken care of us, we must take care of them.
Congress should respond by enacting legislation to protect our police officers and increase resources for law enforcement. This police week, please join us in standing up for public safety and the lives of your local police officers.
