Hi there—I’m Matt McGrath, Amy’s older brother. Since Amy’s opponents are already spending millions to make up stories about her, I thought I would say my piece because—let’s face it—I’ve known Amy since we were tossing Nerf footballs in the backyard.

First things first: I’m not supporting Amy for Senate just because she’s my sister. The fact is, Amy would be the first to tell you that we don’t always agree on everything political—far from it. (Even without Nerf backup, our disagreements as adults can be lively.)

But when it comes to trusting a leader with the safety and security of my own family—especially when faced with global health crises, economic uncertainty, and foreign interference in our elections—there is no one on the planet who I would choose over Amy.

Forget red or blue: Amy sees past all that. What matters to her is serving her country, and to do that, she’s willing to work with anyone in order to get the job done. Since the day she signed up for the Marines, she’s devoted herself to the public trust, and that’s why I put my trust in her.

I’m writing today because I think Kentucky voters need to know the real Amy—not the caricature that Mitch McConnell is trying to create. If you can, please chip in, and let’s defend Amy against the attacks the other side is already launching her way:

I’ve been a high school American history teacher for 20 years, and I have taught my kids about those critical moments when the right people stepped up to lead the country through uncertain times—times when our health, safety, and even day-to-day survival were on the line.

As the outcome of our governor’s race demonstrated, having the right people at the helm can be a matter of life and death. These times call for bold responses. And I’d choose the warrior who knows how to make the tough call over the obstructionist career politician any day of the week—and twice on Sunday.

Now, I know taking on a career politician and his special-interest machine is going to be tough. He’s already come for Amy with some pretty nasty attacks—some of them laugh-out-loud ridiculous.

That’s why this grassroots network you all have built is so important. It’s the only thing in our politics today strong enough to stop Mitch McConnell.
