Dear John,

This week, I published an op-ed in Newsweek titled, ‘I’m Proof of the Power of Second Chances’. In it, I shared my personal journey of transformation, shining a light on the end of April as Second Chance Month and reminding us all that there is always hope for change. 

Across the country, we’ve seen strides in bipartisan efforts to enact clean slate laws that help give formerly incarcerated people increased chances and opportunities. I, myself, recently benefited from a new law in California, SB 731, that gives formerly incarcerated people the chance to clear their records. At ARC, we run clean slate legal clinics so our members know they can expunge their records as well. 

By highlighting stories like mine and advocating for policies and programs that promote opportunities for formerly incarcerated people, we can make a difference. Consider supporting second chances today!
