  # [#]Hi James,In Oregon’s 5th congressional district, Tuesday’s primary boils down to a simple choice: should Democrats nominate a weak and corporate-money-reliant candidate with a voting history on the environment that looks like a Republican’s and questionable record on protecting rape victims? Or should we nominate an independent, pragmatic Democrat with a track record of outperforming other Democrats throughout this district?

This is a seat that Democrats must win if we are going to retake the House majority. Our opponent’s vote against extending protections for rape victims means she could not withstand Republican attack ads, because who could defend such a vote?

With the primary upon us, it’s never been more important for our grassroots supporters to stand with us and help our people-powered campaign be first across the finish line. Can you chip in $ today? Jamie McLeod-Skinner is the pro-choice, pro-environment, pro-worker Democrat we can count on to fight for Oregonians. She has been elected in both urban and rural areas, and her solid base of support is essential to winning in November. She outperformed our Democratic Governor by seven points in 2022 and, in the central Oregon county of Deschutes, she has outperformed every Democrat running for U.S. President since 1964! There’s no doubt about it: our campaign is best-positioned to flip this seat blue in November.

Our primary opponent has the WORST environmental record of any Democrat in the Oregon Legislature, voted to CUT PENSIONS for firefighters and teachers, and is the only legislator, Republican or Democrat, to vote AGAINST a bill to protect rape victims!

This district is not easy for Democrats. Only a third of the voters are Democrats. Our Democratic Governor received only 42% of the vote in 2022. (Jamie received 49%.) Other than the small portion that overlaps with Portland, most county commissioners and state legislators are Republican. That’s why Democrats must have a strong nominee — who has built trust with voters throughout the district and is independent of corporate PACs — to win in November.

James, we can’t afford to make the wrong choice on Tuesday. Our opponent’s push-poll claims we’re neck-and-neck, and we need your help to make this final push. Please, donate anything you can today. [[link removed]]
