Dear Friends and Community Members,
We did it! Tuesday, May 14th we won the Special Election with 54% of the vote! I am truly honored to have earned your support and vote this week by running a positive, issues focused, campaign that seeks to unite, not divide our communities around shared values! You can view the election results HERE.
I am excited and honored to serve all 16 cities as our next District 6 Commissioner! I'll be focusing in the months ahead on establishing our office and learning more about each community, and how the county works so I can help in this new capacity build a thriving county that meets the needs of us all!
Please be sure to invite me to events throughout our district or schedule a time to visit the county office by emailing me at [email protected] -- I look forward to seeing you all around this Summer!
I'm proud to report my election has been certified today! I should have an update soon on when I will be sworn in but likely in the next week to 10 days is what I expect.
This weekend I'll be at the Minnesota Capitol as we work to wrap up the legislative session with our adjournment on Sunday, May 19th by 11:49AM according to the State constitution. In these last few days we are working long hours to pass the ERA, budget bills for environment, commerce, energy, public safety, K-12 education, higher education, taxes and resolve the Uber/ Lyft issue to ensure they stay in the state without disruption to services.
Finally, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your letters to the editors, donations, hosting signs, parties and coffees and texting, calling and emailing your friends to get out the vote all in support our campaign. We could not have won without each and every one of YOU!
I am a mom, wife, legislator, Hennepin County Commissioner-Elect for District 6, former mental health therapist, community advocate and lifelong Hennepin County resident that cares deeply about people and how policy impacts lives. I am a proud coalition builder who gets things done. I am truly honored to have your support!
We will have work to prepare for another win this November but for now -- let's enjoy this victory and our hard work!
As always, together, we can do great things!
P.S. You can bring your lawn sign in -- we will be putting them back up in late September to prepare for the November ballot. Thank you again for hosting them!
