Friend,
Our democracy relies on a system of checks and balances to ensure that no single branch of government has too much power. Central to this system is the independence of federal agencies from the influence of the President's office. These agencies play a crucial role in upholding our laws, protecting our rights, and serving the American people – without fear of retribution if agency work does not align with current leadership.
However, if Donald Trump is re-elected this fall, he has made it clear that he will erode the independence of these agencies by turning key roles into political appointments. This shift threatens to compromise the integrity of their work and concentrate too much power in the hands of the executive branch.
Democrats understand the importance of maintaining the independence of federal agencies. Whether it's protecting the environment, safeguarding consumer rights, or ensuring access to healthcare, these agencies must be free from political interference to fulfill their missions effectively.
To defend the independence of federal agencies and push back against efforts to politicize their leadership roles, we must re-elect Joe Biden and ensure Democratic majorities in the House and Senate. By working together, we can ensure that these agencies remain accountable to the American people, not the whims of an administration. [[link removed]]
