Three years ago, I was celebrating my first Mother's Day when I had to duck from drive-by bullets on my rural Tennessee street. I clutched my infant in fear and hid after a shooter stole an unsecured gun in plain sight.

I knew at that moment I had to do something about the gun violence epidemic, John.

I’ve spent the last few years advocating as a mom, educator, and survivor to pass common-sense gun safety laws to make our schools and communities safer.

And I won’t stop fighting until we end gun violence. That’s why I’m proud to be joining Teachers Unify.

Teachers bring a unique perspective to the table, John. Across the country, educators have seen the impact of gun violence in their communities and classrooms.
