Missouri GOP Secretary of State candidate Valentina Gomez just posted a video of her running in a bulletproof vest, advising voters not to “be weak and gay.”
We’re not really sure
what that means, but we know this: rhetoric like this is blatantly homophobic and divisive - and cannot be tolerated.
The only “weak” thing here is Gomez and her campaign, who are choosing to use the LGBTQ community as a political football.
But this shouldn’t surprise us though, John. Rhetoric like this is the norm from Gomez:
- – She posted a video of herself lighting LGBTQ-inclusive books on fire.
- – She said that countries that ban flamethrowers were also “weak and gay.”
- – And has said she would abolish voting machines and deploy the National Guard to secure elections.
It probably won’t surprise you that Gomez is an election-denier too. And we cannot afford to have her or her allies running our elections.
Can we count on you to make a small donation of $3 to elect Democratic Secretaries of State who will defend our democracy from election-denying Republicans?
