Hi John, Yes, you heard it right. Republicans, like radical Texas Senator Ted Cruz, think families across Texas and our nation should pay MORE for internet access each month. Right now, Republicans are witholding funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) — which has helped ensure access to the internet — hostage because of their petty, partisan politics. |
High-speed internet, which the ACP connects Americans to, has become as essential as electricity and running water. It’s a lifeline – for education, health care, employment and more. But too many Texans don't have access to this vital resource.
That is why Democrats and Republicans came together to pass the Bipartisan Instratructure Law in 2021 that helped create this vital program. But now, the future of this program is being jeopardized by political inaction by right-wing politicians.
The path forward is clear. Republican extremists, like Ted Cruz, must stop the purposeful inaction and Congress must fully fund the ACP.
It shouldn't be political or controversial to ensure that everyone can access cheaper access to reliable, high-speed internet — regardless of their ZIP code.
