Even though we may be keeping our distance, there is still A LOT happening!

😷 First, priorities. A lot of folks are hurting right now and we're trying to help as best we can. We created the Brandon, FL COVID-19 page with information on local case numbers, testing sites (or lack thereof), and medical information from Dr. Mike Orlosky from USF's department of Public Health. Click Here.

📉 If you, like me, are feeling the economic pinch right now you can also find unemployment resources, small business loan information, and links to apply for things like the Supplimental Nutrition Assistance Program and local food pantries. Click Here.

Here's what happened last week:

On a policy front, I've been calling for a national pause in all rent, mortgage and loan payments. I want to see us all stay home for everyone's safety as our quickest way out of this is to defeat the disease. But, the only way to keep people home is to pause the payments they would otherwise have to make. Ironically, even Sen. Rick Scott agrees!

I went on an impromptu Facebook Live rant after my Republican opponent made clear that his priority in this time of pandemic was re-opening gun concealed weapons permitting. Let that sink in and let's make sure he never votes on our behalf.

While Danny was doing his right-wing grandstanding, we had on Dr. Michael Orlosky from USF's department of Public Health to talk about how we can stay safe, protect our families, and find responsible ways out of this mess.

With all the bad news out there, it's easy to dispair, and one thing that made me smile this week when I was going through my phone was this video I shot about two months ago of local legends Sam Bell and Betty Castor. So, no matter what's going on outside your doors, grab your favorite dance partner and #neverstopdancing!

The next few weeks will be some of our most trying. Just know that we're all in this together. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
