Dear  SPUC supporter,

On Wednesday, I was pleased to attend a rally jointly organised between a large number of pro-life groups. We gathered together outside Parliament to say NO to abortion up to birth. You can read all about the rally here.

What’s the latest?

The rally was timed to coincide with the first day of the Report Stage of the Criminal Justice Bill. However, we now know that the abortion amendments will be debated on the second day of debate. Today, the Government announced that it will take place on Tuesday 4 June.

I know that there have been many different dates given and delays in the course of this campaign (always a danger when dealing with Parliament!). But now that the Government’s programme motion lists that all amendments on abortion will be debated on the second day of the Report stage, and that the date for that has been confirmed, we are as sure as we can be that the abortion amendments will be debated on Tuesday 4 June.

A reminder that the extreme abortion decriminalisation amendments we need to defeat are New Clause 1 by Diana Johnson, and New Clause 40 by Stella Creasy. Amendments on lowering the time limit (NC15) and on banning late abortions for babies with Down’s syndrome (NC41) will also be debated.

Today, it has been announced that another amendment, NC115, has been tabled, which would mandate a return to face to face appointments before women are given abortion pills. Information about why the horrific remote abortion policy should be revoked can be found in our End DIY Abortion: Justice for Baby Lily Campaign.

What action can I take?

If you have already been in contact with your MP, please email to let him/her know that the debate will take place on 4 June.

If you haven’t yet, you can use our web tool to do so.

We will also be holding another joint rally with other pro-life groups on 4 June, while the debate is happening. We'll send out more etails shortly, but put the date in your diary!

Thank you for campaigning with us.
