Charity can see the faces of her children again

Hi Friend,
As the primary earner and caregiver in her family, Charity felt lost when she developed cataracts. ([link removed]) When her husband sadly passed away, she cried as she became increasingly isolated and questioned her ability to raise her children with deteriorating eyesight.
As people in her community suggested traditional treatments like liquid drops made from tree roots, she wisely visited a cataract surgical camp at our partner Chongwe District Eye Hospital coordinated by the Ministry of Health and Orbis Zambia, thanks to the generosity of supporters like you!
Charity was diagnosed with bilateral cataracts and had successful surgery at another Orbis partner hospital in the capital City, Lusaka. Shedding tears of joy, she thanked everyone in the room, particularly the wonderful ophthalmologist who performed the surgery.
Charity told us: “I missed the gorgeous face of my last-born child, who is now three years old, but was only two when I stopped seeing him. I can now return to the village to meet my friends, who felt I had abandoned them when I lost my sight and was unable to see anything.”
Thanks to the generosity of Orbis supporters, Charity and many others around the world, can look forward to a future of hope with healthy sight.
Team Orbis
