Special Easter Video Message: Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!

“He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.'" - Luke 24:6-7

Our entire Texas Values team wishes you and your family a very Happy Easter this weekend. During this unprecedented coronavirus pandemic that has altered so much of our lives in recent weeks, it is all the more important to remember the hope we have in Christ Jesus. Our Easter celebrations may look different this year as churches host services online, but the Good News of the Gospel remains true today even in the midst of this current crisis.

As a Christian organization that is dedicated to ensuring biblical values of religious liberty, marriage, family, and life are upheld throughout Texas, we join you in celebrating the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this Easter. We pray this Easter weekend be filled with His hope, joy, and love for you and your family.

We invite you to watch a special Easter video message from Texas Values President Jonathan Saenz.

5th Circuit: Gov. Abbott & AG Paxton Correct, Abortion Not Essential Health Care

This week, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling (mandamus) allowing Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order temporarily banning all non-essential medical procedures, including abortion, to stand. The Fifth Circuit’s mandamus is a step further than the emergency stay the Fifth Circuit issued last week and strikes down Judge Yeakel’s temporary restraining order, while also giving the opinion of the Fifth Circuit.

Calling the lower court’s ruling an “extraordinary error,” the Fifth Circuit also stated in its opinion the lower court had effectively “usurped” the state’s authority to craft emergency orders responsive to the current public health emergency and that “time is of the essence” in preserving the state’s medical supplies and resources for COVID-19 patients. Texas Values had filed a legal brief at the Fifth Circuit, along with 11 like-minded organizations from other states and the medical organization, American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, in support of Governor Abbott’s life-saving executive order.
