Dear Friend,
What is your love language? Acts of service? Words of affirmation? Gift giving? Your “love language” is a preferred way to express that you care to others, and though we may all show this differently, there’s one way that’s rarely discussed where we each can really share in an act of love, not just to those we care about close to home, but also to families across our nation…
The truth is our families are just not feeling the love when it comes to one of the most important things we need to thrive: child care. Over and over we hear from members just like you about the real struggle to find and afford the quality care our families need and deserve. Our child care system has been broken for decades, and while we are starting to see more investments on a state and national level due to YOUR advocacy, much more investments are needed, and together WE have the momentum to make this happen!
Already, too many families report paying a third of their take home pay to child care [1] and across the country, the annual price of infant child care often exceeds the annual cost of in‑state tuition at a public four‑year university. [2]
The good news is that because of the actions you have taken to lift our collective voices for child care, this issue is finally at the forefront of national consciousness where it belongs!
Voting helps ensure that leaders understand the real life challenges that America’s families are facing. ALL 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be up for election this November. This is the right time to make sure that we are louder than ever on the need for child care.
The bottom line is that we have fought for this issue for years and have seen results. Your actions have gotten our movement this far and together we can ensure our policies reflect the love we share every day for our families.
