Republican AGs in Indiana and Louisiana seek to undermine the Voting Rights Act.
Indiana's Republican attorney general became the latest to join the growing list of GOP officials trying to get judges to severely weaken enforcement of the Voting Rights Act across five federal circuit courts and 20 states.
Today, the entire 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reconsidered its decision in a 1986 case that created an agreement to ensure Louisiana’s state Supreme Court elections comply with Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. The state wants to dissolve the agreement.

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) allowed over a dozen people with prior felony convictions to have their voting rights restored, while vetoing proposals that would have restored the right to vote for four others.
House Republicans held a hearing today on the need to prevent noncitizen voting in federal elections, despite it already being illegal and there not being evidence of the phenomenon. Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.) said, “It’s not provable because there’s no proof."
