Evangelicals Urge Solutions as Senate Considers Plight of Dreamers - A coalition of evangelical denominations and organizations recently submitted a letter to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee ahead of a hearing about undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children. The leaders acknowledge “the urgent need for other immigration policy reforms, including solutions at the U.S.-Mexico border,” but write, “Congress could address multiple challenges at once – and evangelical Christians want them to do so.” A February 2024 Lifeway Research study of evangelicals’ views on immigration found that 80% of evangelicals would support immigration reforms that include improvements to border security and a way for Dreamers to earn citizenship.

Demanding Answers on the Abbey Gate Bombing -  A recent report from CNN showed apparent discrepancies between newly reported footage of the Abbey Gate bombing in Afghanistan and the conclusions of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) investigations. This week Congressman Mike Waltz and Michael McCaul wrote a letter the U.S. Secretary of Defense General Lloyd Austin, demanding clarity on these discrepancies. The Abbey Gate attack took the lives of 13 servicemembers and left 170 Afghans wounded. Our Gold Star families and servicemembers deserve answers.

Cornyn, Cruz, Texas Colleagues Urge Appropriators to Withhold Funds from Mexico Over Water Treaty Obligations - The 1944 Water Treaty between the United States and Mexico obligates both countries to share water resources from the Colorado and Rio Grande rivers. Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, Mexico still fails to provide minimum, consistent water deliveries to the United States from the Rio Grande, instead waiting until the end of a five-year cycle to deliver the water owed to America. While the United States provides consistent, annual water deliveries to Mexico, the Mexican practice poses a serious threat to the agricultural, industrial, and municipal sectors in border states.
