Friend, today, I’m reflecting on some of my earliest days in politics.
In the middle of such a consequential election season, it can be easy to lose sight of our very modest beginnings. But for me, remembering where I came from, and the difficulties we have faced along the way is so important to appreciating all those who made it possible, and how much people are depending on me.
Before my run for the U.S. Senate or my tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives was even a thought, I served as California State Senator from 1996 to 2000. While going through family photos with Eve, we stumbled across this one:
We were so young then! Eve has been my steadfast supporter since I told her I wanted to run for office. There’s someone else who’s been a constant since those early days: you.
I lost my first race for the State Assembly. And my second. Only in my third race — this time for the State Senate — was I successful. No matter how big the challenge, this incredible team has helped us push forward. I haven’t walked any part of this path alone, and as Election Day gets closer, it’s a relief to know you’re by my side.
That said, I’m asking for your support again today. We’re just 1 day away from our crucial midnight fundraising deadline, and we’re falling behind.
You’ve picked me up time and time again when fundraising deadlines were tight, and I’m confident we can make up the distance in no time. Your encouragement has helped me fight for abortion rights, advocate for climate change solutions, defend our democracy, and so much more. And again, I only have the privilege of doing this job because of you.
Can you help out by chipping in a split donation of $10 or more between Forward Majority and my campaign before tomorrow’s midnight deadline? With your help, we can help maintain our U.S. Senate majority.
If you have an ActBlue account, your donation will be processed immediately and split between Adam Schiff and Forward Majority.
