Sacrifice & Hope
During this Holy Week, Hoosiers across the state -- including my family -- are reflecting. We're spending time reflecting on the sacrifice Jesus made for us all, but also the service and sacrifice our fellow Hoosiers are making during this challenging time.
It’s our doctors, nurses and other medical professionals putting themselves in harm’s way to help those in need. It’s our farmers, truck drivers and grocery clerks making sure we still have access to the necessities of life. It's our police officers and firefighters continuing to report for duty, keeping our communities safe. It’s other essential employees doing their job to make sure our state keeps operating.
And, really, it's every Hoosier doing what needs to be done -- hunkering down at home and social distancing to save lives. After all, as Governor Holcomb has been saying, we're in this together.
As we look to Easter this Sunday, I’m filled with hope. Just as Jesus was resurrected and lives, I know that soon our state and our communities will come back stronger than ever.

Governor Holcomb's Week That Was
Keeping Hoosiers Safe: Coronavirus
Governor Holcomb continues to take action to lead our state during this challenging time.
This week, he extended Indiana’s Hunker Down Hoosiers Stay-at-Home Order. He also identified businesses that provide the necessities of life, and how businesses should operate moving forward during this order. Additionally, he provided updates on Indiana's infrastructure plans. With less traffic on the roads, INDOT is getting a jumpstart on its construction plans.

* Extension of Indiana’s Hunker Down Hoosiers Stay-at-Home Order:

+ Retail business that provide necessities of life may stay open if they:
o Limit the number of customers in a store at any one time.
o Adjust hours to accommodate vulnerable populations, such as the elderly.
o Limit hours so they can restock and clean.
o Comply with all mitigation measures to protect employees and customers.
+ Retail business not providing necessities of life may stay open if they:
o Restrict sales to online or call-in ordering with delivery or curbside pickup.
o Businesses must comply with social distancing, sanitation and other mitigation measures to protect employees.
* Infrastructure Updates:
+ Vehicle traffic is down 40% during the week and over 50% on the weekends!
+ Community Crossings grants were awarded this week, which assist local communities with the repair, ongoing maintenance, and improvement of their roads and bridges.
+ 217 Community Crossing grants are being awarded in 61 counties and 156 cities and towns…for a total of $126.5 million in matching grants! Check here ([link removed][UNIQID]) to see if your county or community has been awarded funds!
+ And with fewer Hoosiers on the roads, INDOT is jumpstarting road construction across the state. This includes:
o I-70 on the east side of Indianapolis will be closed for major repairs. Originally scheduled to take five months to complete, it will now be done in one month.
o Section Six of I-69 (between Martinsville and Indianapolis) continues to move forward as scheduled.
o Projects are occurring all over the state, including the Lloyd Expressway in Evansville and I-469 in Fort Wayne.

Election Update: June 2 Primary
Indiana's primary election date has been moved to Tuesday, June 2. During this primary, any registered voter has the option to cast their ballot via a mail-in absentee ballot.
