The Small Business Administration's Nevada director, Joseph Amato, blasted big banks in The Washington Post, saying, “Some banks 'that had no problem taking billions of dollars of free money as bailout in 2008 are now the biggest banks that are resistant to helping small businesses.” Though the federal government has secured loans for Big Banks to lend to taxpayers, banks are still dragging their feet and saying they need more time -- when there's not much time to lose.
In the midst of this failure to act, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin says, “I think, overall, the banks have done a phenomenal job.” This praise despite the fact that, as of April 3, barely 1% of the available funds had been approved.
