We just met with hundreds of volunteers during our largest organizing call of the year, and one thing was clear: people are ready to take action to turn the tide in Texas.

During the call I showed how our voter registration and relationship program provides the kind of transformational action we need in a state as important as ours. Participants on the call then signed up for trainings and registration events in their communities. Encouraging to see so many people step up!

But if you need more information before you make a decision, here’s a quick recap of the call:

We reviewed the many voter registration tests we’ve run in 2024, like meeting unregistered Democrats at their doors; texting unregistered Democrats for whom we can find a cell phone; and finding unregistered Democrats in public spaces. Thanks to our “test pilots” – volunteers who got out there and tested each of these approaches – we now know what works and what doesn’t work.

And what clearly works better than anything else is when Powered by People volunteers show up to meet our future voters where they are. We’ve spent hundreds of hours at dozens of locations across the state to get this right. Our initial cohort of volunteers has been at work continuously improving our approach to this, scouting the best spots to find unregistered voters and the most effective ways to talk to, register and stay in touch with them ahead of these upcoming elections.



From their work, we’ve developed a comprehensive program that includes training, certification and – most importantly – action. And we want you to be a part of it.
