THE WEEK's BIG 3

ADL reacted to Havard University’s decision to meet with leaders of the anti-Israel protest leaders in exchange for an end to the encampment.  The president of Sonoma State University was placed on leave Wednesday, a day after he released a controversial campuswide message on the Israel-Hamas war that said the university would pursue “divestment strategies” and endorsed an academic boycott of Israeli universities. A teacher in Connecticut is under investigation after showing a picture of Adolf Hitler as an infant, instructing her class to draw swastikas on their notebooks and favorable things Hitler had done.

KEY ADL SOCIAL STATEMENTS

  • Yesterday marked Nakba Day ("catastrophe" in Arabic), on which Palestinians & their supporters, including many anti-Israel activists, highlight the plight of Palestinian refugees. Each year we see rhetoric at events that supports terror or crosses the line into antisemitism

  • Some statements by anti-Israeli encampment organizers have echoed classic antisemitic tropes about supposed Jewish power and financial control by attacking “Zionist” trustees and donors and their alleged influence on university affairs, including @DePaulU, @CUNY and @SUNY
  • Two years ago, a white supremacist shooter motivated by the antisemitic and racist Great Replacement Theory murdered 10 people in a horrifying act of hate. Our hearts today are with the families of those we lost and the Buffalo community.
