Friend,

A puppy mill operator in Iowa performed do-it-yourself surgeries on puppies. A breeder in Ohio is suspected of using rusty scissors to cut the tails off puppies. A breeding facility in Oklahoma was so infested with mice that some dogs could not eat their food without ingesting rodent feces.

These are just some of the findings that came out of the Humane Society of the United States’ most recent Horrible Hundred report, which puts the spotlight on 100 of the known problem puppy mills across the U.S. that sell to pet stores, online and directly to the public.

This is the reality for so many dogs living in large-scale breeding facilities. Will you help us rescue these animals by donating $20 or more to our work to end the cruelty of puppy mills before they even start? ([link removed])

While the Animal Rescue Team at the Humane Society of the United States saves dogs from neglect like this, they can’t save every animal, so we’re fighting hard to change the laws that allow animal cruelty and abuse like this to thrive. The Better CARE for Animals Act and the Puppy Protection Act are just two of the ways we’re working to change the laws to prevent abuse and improve the lives of so many animals.

So much is at stake for dogs right now. The reality is that legislative and policy fights like these aren’t won overnight. Fighting for these bills will take major resources and months of time. That’s why we’re counting on your help.

Stopping the needless suffering of puppies and breeding dogs will only be possible with the help of tireless advocates like you. By donating now, you’ll provide us the support we desperately need to keep fighting for these laws to protect puppies and save animal lives. ([link removed])

Your donation will go to work immediately to support our legislative efforts to protect dogs from cruel puppy mills, end needless suffering and prevent future neglect.

Thank you,
