Join WildAid to celebrate the most powerful ecosystem on Earth -- the ocean -- and all the ways we work together to protect it.
Dear John,
Join us three weeks from today to celebrate the ocean—the largest and most powerful ecosystem on Earth. Register for WildAid Live: World Oceans Day, which will be held online on Thursday, June 6th at 10 am PST/1 pm EST ([link removed]) .
Covering more than 70% of the Earth's surface, the ocean gives us the air we breathe and plays the vital role of climate control for our planet. Billions of people worldwide depend on the ocean for the food and jobs they need to provide for their families. This powerful ecosystem needs our help. Vulnerable ocean life and habitats are under threat from illegal fishing, climate change, and over-exploitation.
Every day, WildAid takes action worldwide to protect marine ecosystems and ocean life. And you're invited to join us:
* Register for ([link removed]) WildAid Live: ([link removed]) World Oceans Day ([link removed]) on June 6th. You'll hear from WildAid team members from around the world with news from our award-winning media campaigns and marine protection initiatives. (You'll receive a reminder email and link from Zoom 24 hours before the livestream. You might need to check your spam folder the day before.)
* Join the conversation. Email us at
[email protected] (mailto:
[email protected]) with your questions about WildAid's wildlife protection and marine conservation work.
* Make a gift to protect ocean life ([link removed]) between now and Thursday, June 6th. Thanks to a generous short-term matching challenge, your donation to WildAid will be tripled, up to $50,000.
The time for us to take action is now.
Half of the world's coral reefs have been destroyed in recent decades. Illegal fishing feeds a $23 billion black market, with 1 in 5 fish caught illegally worldwide. More than a hundred million sharks are killed each year for their fins, and 6 out of 7 sea turtle species face extinction. Fish, turtles, and sharks aren't the only species under threat. Illegal fishing and exploitation also rob local, sustainable fishermen of their livelihoods.
No matter where we live, we all depend on the ocean. WildAid has shown that we can turn the tide for vulnerable ocean life and habitat. Join us ([link removed]) —it's wild what we can do together!
Yours for the wild,
Meaghan Brosnan
Chief Executive Officer
