Alleged billion-dollar campaign finance "deal" offer from Trump to Big Oil could save industry $110 billion, study finds
Quid pro WHOA! Donald's brazen scheme to have fossil fuel fat cats finance his way back into the Oval Office — and out of legal trouble — in exchange for climate-busting carte blanche redefines obscene, something we honestly didn't think was possible at this point with the MAGA cult leader.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump stunned with more bad news in brutal election result
The disgraced ex-president may frame himself as the second coming of Christ from within the GOP, but in contest after contest we keep seeing the same story unfold: Donald Trump is weak, and a remarkable number of registered Republicans are continuing to reject him.

Ron DeSantis makes "climate change isn't real" official Florida law
Failed presidential candidate and reformed Trump bootlicker Ron DeSantis is back to doing what he does best, making headlines by trying to ruin lives in Florida and beyond. The Florida governor signed downright stupid legislation Wednesday eliminating climate change as a priority in the state’s energy policies, striking references to climate change in Florida law, banning offshore wind, and weakening already insufficient regulations on natural gas pipelines. While some of the measures are largely symbolic — Florida doesn't have any offshore wind projects due to low wind speeds and the constant threat of hurricanes — DeSantis is clearly trying to change the narrative on his waning support back home while retaining any semblance of relevance with Republicans nationally by fighting the party's reductive culture wars. And while his latest legislative shenanigans will likely put Florida residents at increased risk from worsening weather disasters, DeSantis is clearly more concerned with repairing his tattered image within the GOP as he eyes another doomed run in 2028.

Trump camp reportedly "irked" that President Biden called his debate bluff
Although the MAGA cult leader donned a brave, bronzed face and quickly accepted President Biden's offer to participate in two presidential debates, folks from Trump's campaign apparently weren't nearly as enthusiastic. In fact, they were downright “irked,” according to CNN journalist Kristen Holmes, after Biden “took over the debate narrative” Wednesday. Perhaps they're frustrated that the president deprived the Trump campaign of the bogus claim that Biden was somehow afraid to debate Donald, or, maybe, they're fearful of a repeat performance from four years ago, where Biden wiped the floor with the embattled, unprepared, and ill-tempered charlatan on his way to a resounding victory.

Slovakian Prime Minister Fico in serious but stable condition as assassination attempt fuels fears of political violence across Europe
Slovakia's populist prime minister was in "very serious" condition, officials said Thursday, after being shot multiple times in an attempted assassination that sent shockwaves across the small central European country and the broader continent. But while Robert Fico's condition has stabilized, the incident left Europe to confront what appeared to be a rare outbreak of political violence in a region increasingly polarized by intense divisions. A precise motive in Wednesday’s shooting remains unclear, but Slovakian Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok said an initial investigation had found a “clear political motivation.” On Thursday, however, he described the suspect, who has been charged with attempted murder, as a lone wolf who “did not belong to any political groups.”
Adventures in megalomania: Elon Musk slashed 500-strong department at Tesla in fateful, snap decision
Clearly not pleased with a presentation from the head of Tesla’s Supercharger division, the billionaire tech bozo and ketamine enthusiast made a snap decision to just fire her — along with all 500 of her employees. According to several laid off workers, charging chief Rebecca Tinnucci resisted Musk’s request for further layoffs, as she had cut between 15 percent and 20 percent of her staff two weeks earlier, so he promptly responded by shuttering the entire department, which — fun fact — is a main driver of electric vehicle sales, as Superchargers make up over 60 percent of US high-speed charging ports. The chargers are now under the purview of Tesla’s energy team, and the transition has plunged contractors, who have been told to pause on any new projects, into chaos. Another bang up job, Elon.

UAW files complaint against Harvard for punishing student workers in Gaza protests
The United Auto Workers filed a complaint against Harvard University on Wednesday, alleging that the school violated the rights of graduate student workers by quashing their efforts to organize in opposition to their university’s complicity in the genocide in Gaza. In the filing made to the National Labor Relations Board, the UAW accused the university of surveilling employees and retaliating against them for their workplace-related actions. The group also alleged the school denied employees legal representation during their investigative meetings and changed school policies to target student activists. The complaint asserts that a university’s investments in Israel constitute a workplace issue, and therefore, student workers’ organizing efforts are “protected concerted activity” against their working conditions.
