As I've traveled across the state, I've been struck by the potential beauty of New York's formerly great industrial cities.? If you take a drive through the residential areas of Buffalo, Syracuse and Albany, (among others) you see solid single-family homes, built of brick and stone, which were once inhabited by middle class families in calm neighborhoods, where children played outside and everyone knew what everyone else's kids were up to.? Parents could keep track of their children because one salary from Bethlehem Steel or American Steel and Aluminum was sufficient to support a family of five or six.??

In today's hyperinflationary world, it's very hard to imagine being able to pay one's rent, or mortgage on one week's pay, but that can become the standard again.

New York, with its important historical contribution to the American Revolution, including its economic contribution to building the infrastructure of our nation, from the Erie Canal to the West Point engineering legacy, can be the driver of a real economic and cultural recovery of our nation.? Join me, and my colleague Roger Ham as we explore the past and future potential of our great state.
